Help Guests Understand Your Indian Wedding

An Indian Wedding is a marvellous event, full to the brim with wedding traditions and rituals. And whilst you may know the details inside and out, you probably have guests who have never been to an Indian wedding and are a little confused about to what to expect and what everything means.

Your ceremony is probably going to be long, and that's not including the Bharat that happens before hand. It might be an idea to talk to your guests before hand and just give them a brief breakdown about what to expect.

But on the day, I've got you covered! An Indian Wedding Order of Service is a great way to let your guests know the steps taking place, and give them a little bit of information about what each one means.

Indian Wedding Guide

Mrs K Designs' Indian Wedding Guides are full to the brim with details of your day. I know that each priest conducts the ceremony their own unique way, changing the order of steps, or emitting certain ones, and that's why these Hindu Wedding Guides can be fully customised to match the steps and the order of everything taking pace on your day.

I absolutely LOVE creating these guides, to be able to read what will happen at each couple's wedding feels like a true honour and makes me feel like I'm actually involved in their special day. I often get asked why I don't supply an editable template that couples can edit themselves, and it's because out of the hundreds of programmes I have produced no two guides have ever been the same! And the amount of information that needs to be included makes the design pretty complex... and which couple needs that extra stress of organising layout and getting everything to fit? So I do it for you, and it's a joy!

The guide is available in two versions - an A4 Folded Indian Wedding Guide and an A5 Double Sided Indian Wedding Guide. They are available in three different card stocks, a smooth silk, a textured white card, and a cream textured card. Which you choose is very dependent on your wedding budget, your wedding theme and how many steps you are including.

What Steps are Included in the Indian Wedding Guide?

In short, all of them! You can add as many or as few steps as you like. If the name of the step is different to that shown, or the description needs to be altered, then it's not a problem at all.

On my website you'll see the standard Indian Wedding Programme in two versions - the steps shown are just to give you a guide as to how the final design will look, but this can be jiggled about, and added to, until you are 100% happy with the way everything looks.

The standard Indian Wedding Ritual Steps included:

  • Jaan Aagman/Bharat - The Groom's Parade

  • Milan & Pokwanu - The Introductions

  • Ganesh Puja - Opening Prayer

  • Kanya Padhravo Savdhan - The Bride's Entrance

  • Jaimala - Garland Exchange

  • Varmala - Cotton Cord

  • Ganth Bandhan - Tying the Knot

  • Mangal Phera - Circling the Sacred Fire

  • Saptapadi - The Vows

  • Shapth Grahan - Marriage Vows

  • Sindoor & Mangalsutra - Symbols of Marriage

  • Akhand Saubhagyavati - Blessings from Married Women

  • Aashrivaad - Blessings

Additional Indian Wedding Steps included on the A4 Wedding Guide:

  • Kanyadaan - Giving the Bride Away

  • Hasta Melap - Giving Consent

  • Agni Puja - The Sacred Fire

  • Kansar - Feeding Sweets

  • Viddai - The Bride's Farewell

Additional Steps:

If you have any additional steps that need to be included then just let me know.

On placing an order a document will be sent over to you with all the existing details included in the programme, you just need to edit this with your steps and send back over to me to design.

Indian Wedding Step Images

You will see that most of the steps have a hand-drawn image to accompany them (space permitting). These images give the order of service a vibrant feel with the colours altered to match the colours and theme of your wedding day. And if there is an image you don't see, but you would like, then let me know, because I can add it in! Honestly, this is your Indian Wedding Guide, and it can be just as you want it. I have produced many over the years and nothing is a surprise anymore. If you want a certain font, let me know. If you want a floral border, let me know. Nothing is too much when it comes to designing these beauties.
